The current debate on directed forgetting explanations under self-reference conditions is focused on the point of coding and inhibition, with little study in implicit self-reference conditions. The main reason that previous studies have been controversial is that no quantitative research methods have been used to analyze the storage and retrieval of information during directed forgetting. In the future, researchers can use a storage-retrieval model with multinomial modeling technology on directed forgetting studies or other studies on memory and forgetting.
