Men and Nature:Friends or Enemies——An Ecofeministic Approach to Willa Cather's O Pioneers!

摘要

cqvip:Ecofeminism tends to criticize the patriarchal domination of nature, emphasize an affinity and alliance between women and nature, appreciate women's care for nature. But ecofeminism also holds that men, once having care and compassion for nature, can also be in harmony with nature. By reinterpreting Willa Cather 's novel O Pioneers! from the angle of ecofeminism, the article finds that in the novel exist two kinds of men: patriarchal men and ecological men, patriarchal men such as Emil maltreat nature as an enemy, ecological men such as Ivar well treat nature as a friend.
