Asset taxation rate and labor productivity of all provinces in 1998 and 2008 are weighted to evaluate per-formances in manufacturing. The result shows that the gap of manufacturing performance among provinces was shrinking in the last decade. Remarkably, manufacturing performance in Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian declined obviously, which shows the urgency of industry upgrading in developed provinces. However, manufacturing performance in Jilin, Jiangxi, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Iiaoning and Xinjiang increased significantly, which shows apparent effect of Western Development, Revitalizing Industrial Base in Northeast and Central China Strategy. Nevertheless, manufacturing in all provinces should transfer structure from extensive and low value-added to intensive and high value-added.%采用资产利税率和劳动生产率加权的方法对1998年和2008年两个时间截面各省区制造业绩效进行了评价,结果表明各省、自治区、直辖市制造业绩效之间的差距在十年间的趋势不断缩小.引人注目的是,广东、浙江、福建等沿海发达省份的制造业绩效相对下降明显,显示出发达地区加快制造业转型升级步伐的迫切性；而吉林、江西、河南、内蒙古、辽宁和新疆的制造业绩效相对升幅非常明显,显示出国家实施西部大开发、振兴东北老工业基地和中部崛起战略的明显效果.但总体上各地区制造业绩效尚不高,都需要从粗放的、低附加值的产业向集约的、高附加值的产业转变.
