When the Art and Cultural Delegation of the Ministry of Education was making survey to the stele forest at the Yaowang Shan (Mount of the Medicine Deity) in Yaoxian County, Shaanxi in 1941, the members of the delegation made rubbings and replica drawings to the designs of a sarcophagus collected in the stele forest. Through the comparative studies of the replica drawings and rubbings, this paper inferred the characteristics of the decorative designs, date and nature of this sarcophagus and suggested that it was the reliquary of the sarira of Buddha or a respected Buddhist monk made in the Song Dynasty.%“教育部艺术文物考察团”于1941年在陕西耀县药王山碑林调查时,对其中收藏的一件石棺的纹饰进行了捶拓和线描。本文通过对线描稿和拓片的对比研究,对这件石棺的纹饰特征、时代及其性质进行了推测,认为它是1件宋代的佛舍利石棺或高僧的舍利石棺。
