The Problems of Main English Language Teaching Methods for Chinese College Students

         

摘要

Teaching method, which is defined by Spiro (2013) as the practical action that teachers make in the class, has been stud? ied for a long time. In the past decades, Chinese colleges and universities make great efforts on reform of teaching method to improve the college students’English level. Nevertheless, deficiencies of teaching methods still remain. Up to now, the research in this area mainly center on the comparison between certain teaching methods. It is necessary to discover problems before attempt at new methods. Therefore, the main purpose of this essay is to probe into teaching method for Chinese college students and provide several suggestions for peer teachers. It could be a precious data for my future career. Some limitations still exist. The focus will be the problems of current Chinese college English teaching methods and the possible reasons. Further analysis about feasible teaching methods is needed. The essay is organized by three sections. The first section is an overview of main teaching methods in Chinese universities and colleges. The second section presents the problems of current teaching methods for Chinese college students and their possible explanation. In the third section, some suggestions about the feasible solution towards teaching methods will be provided.
