摘要

Fences is one of the masterpieces of August Wilson's plays, and Wilson tells a story about a black family's life experiences. In this play, Cory, the second son in this family is seeking for his identity in the society. From Cory's conflict and compromise with his father, it's obvious to see Cory's pursuance for his American identity and his acceptance of his African identity.With the two identity, he finally becomes an intact man in the society.
