钱存训先生对美国汉学研究的贡献

美国汉学开始于19世纪中期,相对于欧洲传统汉学而言起步较晚,20世纪初仍处于"荒村"阶段,但二战后发展迅速,到20世纪50、60年代已成为汉学研究重镇,发展到今天更是世界汉学引领者. 究其原因,移居美国的中国学者发挥了不可忽视的作用.钱存训就是其中具有代表性的一位.他主要通过建立美国第一流的芝加哥大学东亚图书馆、编纂汉学书目、参与汉学教研等三种方式促进美国汉学研究的发展.%American sinology came into being in the middle +European sinology. But after World War II, it developed rapidly. At present, America becomes the sinological center of the world. Chinese scholars who had immigrated to America have played an important role in the development of American Sinology. Mr. Tsuen-HsuinTsienis one of the representatives. He contributed much to American sinology by three means: developing one of the country's greatest East Asian libraries in the University of Chicago, compiling sinology bibliographies, and participating in sinological research and education.
