With the development of our society,public cultural services has become a very important measures in building our service service-oriented government,and competitive sports is a necessary part in public cultural services and plays a very important role. This article discusses status and effect of competitive sports in public culture service from the meaning,function of competitive sports and the meaning and content of public cultural service to serve public cultural service better.%随着社会的不断发展，公共文化服务事业成为我国服务型政府建设中的重要举措，而竞技体育事业是公共文化服务事业的重要组成部分，在公共文化服务中发挥着重要的作用。从竞技体育的内涵、功能及公共文化服务的内涵、内容等方面着重论述竞技体育在公共文化服务中的地位和作用，从而更好的为公共文化事业服务提供参考。
