BRICs（金砖四国）是近年来炙手可热的外来词之一 。翻译过程涉及隐喻的移植、译者的操纵以及范畴词的运用。运用认知语言学的有关理论对BRICs的翻译过程进行了较为详尽的描述，提出外来词的翻译不仅力求在语义上保留原文词语的神韵，而且要充分利用现代汉语的优势，在构词上符合汉语的规则，必要时还需进行适当的操纵与美化，以符合赞助人和汉语读者的意识形态和诗学观。%BRICs is one of the most eye-catching loan words in recent years. The process of translation involves the transplanting of metaphor, the manipulation of the translator and the addition of category word in Chinese neologism. From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper provides a detailed description of the creation of its Chinese counterpart, and argues that a loan word should not only retain the creativity and inspiration of the original, but also conform to the rules of word-building of the target language. In some cases, manipulation or even beautification is necessary to cater for the ideology and poetics of the patronage and the target readers.
