Apart from Mo-tse, Xunzi was one of the scholars who paid special attention to the economical ideology in the pre-Qin period. Works of Xunzi is a book rich in ideas, among which is the economical ideology. As for this concept, Xunzi put great emphasis on abstinence, on the rational allocation of resources, on the comprehensive civil participation, and on the more responsibility and obligation assumed on the ruling class, etc. The most valuable part of the economical ideology is Yumin ( meaning"to put people in possession of wealth) . Despite the various limitations of Xunzi's e-conomical ideology owing to the special times, there is no denying about its great historical significance. It is the late Warring States period with its spe-cial times traits and his unique life experience that contributes to the formation of this great economical ideology.%先秦时期,诸子中对节用思想尤为重视的除了墨子当属荀子. 《荀子》一书思想丰富,节用思想即是其中之一. 对于节用,荀子主要强调要节欲,要合理配置资源,要全面民参与,统治阶级要在节用中承担更大的责任和义务. 而其节用思想的最可贵之处在于裕民.尽管由于时代的原因荀子的节用思想还有这样那样的局限性,但我们不能因此否认其巨大的历史进步意义. 正是由于其所处的战国末期这个特殊的时代加以其独特的生活经历造就了他这种伟大的节用思想.
