Luxun; Hong Kong; lecture In February 1927, Lu Xun has made two lectures in Hong Kong: Slient China and The Old Tone Was Over. It is a significant page in the history of literature. After that, the visit was of great controversy. Someone said that he was invited by Hong Kong YMCA;the others said the invitation was given by Professor Huang Xinyan, in the name of Hong Kong YMCA. In 90's, there was a third argument. Mr. Zhao Jinsheng, who was on behalf of Great Light Newspaper, claimed that Lu Xun was invited by him. However, it was lack of evidence. Author believes that the statement by Mr. Huang Zhilian, supplements editor of Overseas Chinese Daily at that time is more convincible after the study of the related records of Hong Kong press reports and comments. Lu Xun was invited by YMCA General Director Dr. Cao Yanshen and Prof. Huang Xinyan together for giving speeches in YMCA.
