The explosive hardening of high Mn Steel was simulated by using light gas gun under selectedranges of impact load from 10 to 20 GPa and pulse duration from 0.04 to 1.6μs.The experi-mental results showed that a lot of twins formed in the shocked high Mn steel may be the prin-cipal cause of explosive hardening.
