This article deals with the method of training and raising the listening ability of English majors and provides them with easy access to English news broadcast through introducing them beforehand the technology concerned, including the abbreviations that frequently appear on TV or radio; a set of short, concise and exact verbs that are often preferred instead of abstract, vague or general ones; the way of handling figures and the correct understanding of comparative degree often occurring in news of economy, finance and foreign trade.
