On the basis of comparing the present different WebGIS modes, the feasibility of incorporating SVG and SOAP in WebGIS is discussed according to the technological characteristics of SVG and SOAP. A new multi-tier architecture and the design of WebGIS based on SVG and SOAP is proposed and an application example is given. Due to the realization of vector graphics display and data transmission mode of platform-independent, network data transmission can be effectively reduced, browser and server computing power is balanced.%在比较了不同WebGIS模式的基础上,针对SVG和SOAP的技术特点,论述了其在WebGIS中应用的可行 性.提出了一种新的分布式WebGIS多层体系结构和设计方案,并给出了应用实例.该体系结构实现了矢量化的图形显示以及与平台无关的数据传输模式,可以有效地减少网络数据传输量,均衡浏览器与服务器端的计算负载.
