It is a story of development and growth. This paper analyses the process of the protagonist on her way of recognizing “animus” ( proposed by Jung ) in herself. She was once hesitating, frightened but finally recognized it and turned it into her creative power in writing. This novel tells the readers that women writers have to combine their femininity with masculinity if they want to face their real self and live a full life.
