In Graham Harman’s aptly titled book Skirmishes,Harman succeeds twofold;in consolidating a“speculative”theory of the real robust enough to challenge past and present faux, quasi,or pseudo philosophical realisms, and in responding to his contemporary critics decisively yet in a refreshingly candid manner. All valuable responses to objections require time in the domain of philosophy and this was certainly worth the wait.As the book is a whopping 351 pages in length,1 and presents Harman’s philosophy in its most comprehensive form to date,2 I have limited myself to reviewing only the first half of the book(“Part 1”),3 which includes an introduction followed by four chapters.
