The latest data released by State Economic and Trade Commission indicates the output of categories of vehicles reached 3.48 million units in 2002, an increase of 36.5 per cent over one year ago. Sales volume of vehicles rose by 36.7 percent. The output of cars hit 1.06 million units, rising by 52.8 percent, and sales volume 55.1 percent. In the first 11 months, profits of auto industry added up to RMB38.5 billion, up 55 per cent. The Commission forecasts that the output of categories of vehicles will reach 3.6 million units in 2003.
