Du Fu： Sage of Poetry--In commemoration of the 1300th anniversary of the birth of greatpoet Du Fu

This year marks the 1300th anniversary of the birth of great poet Du Fu (712 - 770). Revered as "sage of poetry", he was a great Tang- Dynasty poet accomplished in realistic poetry. In 1961, the World Peace Council proclaimed Du Fu as a World Cultural Celebrity and called on the people of the world to commemorate him. The spirit of humanity, as expressed by Du Fu’s poems, embodies the essence of Chinese cultural traditions.
