在中日近代史上,典型的国民形象是,中国男人拖着长长的辫子,日本男人则是留着丁鈝。①②在近代化的进程中,中国男人剪去了辫子,日本男人则剪去了丁鈝。但是剪去“辫子”却没有剪去“丁鈝”那么简单,甚至付出了惨痛的血的代价。我们可以从“辫子”和“丁鈝”的命运,管窥中日近代化的异同。%Chinese men wearing long braids,Japanese men Dingqu,these were the typical national images of the two countries in modern history.Later,in the process of modernization,Chinese men had their braids cut,and the same happened to Japanese men's Dingqu.However,the cutting of the “braids”in China was not so simple as that of the “Dingqu”in Japan,even having paid the price of blood.From the different fates of the “pigtail”and the “Dingqu”,we can have some understanding of the simi-larities and differences between Chinese and Japanese modernization.
