Oil Change: A sculptural interpretation of the impact of oil on global cultures and the environment.

摘要

This project is based on a sculptural interpretation of the global energy crisis. Twelve images of mythological creatures blended in with contemporary content express concerns regarding the drastic changes that are occurring both culturally and environmentally due to the impact oil has had globally. The sculptures are separated into four series, distinct in concept, yet tied as a whole for the creative project. The first series uses the cardinal points of North, South, East, and West to illustrate regions of the earth that have been culturally and environmentally damaged due to oil drilling. The second series specifies the impact oil has wreaked upon nature. The third series represents four alternative energy sources in the guise of mythological gods. The fourth series personifies personal anger towards governments that ignore the state of global health in lieu of economic lures.
