The study was conducted to investigate the motivation, satisfaction and constraints of collegiate Chinese martial arts athletes engaged in leisure activities in Taiwan. A survey questionnaire aimed at the collegiate Chinese martial arts athletes in Taiwan was given from October 15, 2007 to May 30, 2008. A random sampling method was adopted for this study with 648 valid questionnaire responses received from among 700 samples; the effective response rate was 92.57%. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16.0 for Microsoft Windows was used to run the statistics part of this study. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, a one-way MANOVA, a Canonical Correlation Analysis, a Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient and a Stepwise Multiple Regression analysis. Based on the results, suggestions will be offered to relevant organizations, coaches and future researchers for reference. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) Based on the demographic variables of the collegiate Chinese martial arts athletes in leisure activities, males (65.3%, n=423) and females (34.7%, n=225) participated in this study. Most of the grade levels were sophomores (33.6%, n=218), and the group of 19 year olds (33.2%, n=215) was the largest group.
