A new concept of using input-output feedback linearization technique has been proposed by Dr. Bob Hunt and Dr. Robert Taylor [1]. This new technique maps the entire non-linear system of the buck-boost converter to a fixed linear system over a wide range of operating points, which ensures a stable control loop over a range of operating points as compared to a single operating point obtained through Taylor series expansion.;Input-output feedback linearization can be accomplished with non-linear systems that have stable zero dynamics. With leading edge modulation, the right half plane zero in the control to output transfer function of the buck-boost power converter is eliminated. Therefore, input-output feedback linearization can be accomplished with the non-linear system of buck-boost converter. Using input-output feedback linearization technique with LEM, a control algorithm (D) was derived by Dr. Bob Hunt and Dr. Robert Taylor for a dc-dc switch-mode buck-boost converter.;This thesis discusses the design and implementation of a dc-dc buck-boost converter based on the control algorithm. It presents the design steps, the simulation results and the board results for the prototype buck-boost board.
