The Impact of Direct Price Controls on Pharmaceutical Prices in Egypt.

In Egypt, pharmaceutical prices are set by the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP). For decades, the ministry used a cost-plus method to set prices. This method has been criticized as being inflexible as it does not account for inflation or the currency exchange rate's fluctuations. In 2012, MOHP switched from a cost-plus method to an external reference pricing (ERP) method via ministerial Decree
