To meet the needs of industry and academic institutions a comprehensive textbook entitled Basic Thermal Engineering for Nuclear Reactors, has been prepared.; This textbook is intended for both advanced undergraduate and graduate students, and also for professionals working in the power industry.; This book is being co-authored by Dr. J. N. Anno of the University of Cincinnati. The book takes the reader from the basic heat transfer fundamentals (conduction, convection, radiation, Dr. Anno's principle contributions), to fluid flow principles and continues presenting practical applications of these concepts in the design of basic power plant components, the present author's principle contribution. Special attention is given to specific heat transfer problems associated with the design of a Nuclear Reactor (chapters VII and VIII).; The use of the computers and algorithms required to solve the heat transfer equations for complex geometries is presented in a chapter on Numerical Methods in Heat Transfer.; The testing procedure and instrumentation required to check the performance of the power plant components is presented in detail in chapter XII, Fundamental of Temperature Pressure and Flow Measurements.; The uniqueness and originality of this work is believed to be that for the first time, to the author's knowledge, the proper blend of theoretical and practical information, has been gathered into a single, integrated work, which addresses both the academic and industrial needs.
