摘要

The effects of early disking and fertilization using one nine-gram Agriform Forest Starter Tablet per seedling was examined after 15-years in an East Texas plantation of yellow-poplar and American sycamore. The soil of the study area is a Sacul fine sandy loam, a member of the clayey, mixed, thermic Aquic Hapludults.;Cultivation by disking three times in each of the first two growing seasons resulted in reduced levels of competition which persisted after 15 years. Yellow-poplar survival was unaffected by treatments. Sycamore had significantly greater survival following cultivation. Yellow-poplar height growth was unaffected by treatments. Sycamore had significantly greater heights following cultivation, and/or fertilization. Yellow-poplar had significantly greater diameters following cultivation combined with fertilization. Sycamore had significantly greater diameters following cultivation with or without fertilization.
