摘要

The crystallization of elemental sulfur is a unit operation in a process being developed to remove hydrogen sulfide from industrial gas streams. The sulfur is formed by the irreversible, liquid-phase reaction of hydrogen sulfide (H;Low-temperature sulfur solubility data in triethylene glycol dimethyl ether (Triglyme) and diethylene glycol methyl ether (DGM) were collected. The effects of temperature and water concentration in the solvents on sulfur solubility were correlated. The thermal crystallization of sulfur from Triglyme was studied in a laboratory-scale experimental crystallizer. The dependence of crystal-size distribution on residence time, slurry density, impeller power input, and water concentration in the solvent was determined. A crystallization model, applicable to the experimental crystallizer, was derived from population balance theory and verified using the experimental data.
