The will to silence: The influence of Michel Foucault on contemporary American political thought.

This project assesses the role of silence in Michel Foucault's thought, and its influence on the theories and practices of particular American constituencies. The constituencies the project selects for discussion--intellectuals, feminists, and homosexuals--have expressed interest in Foucault, as he has expressed interest in them. The relationships between Foucault and these constituencies offer opportunities for mutual evaluation. More important, they offer opportunities for appraising Foucault's impact on contemporary American political thought.
