摘要

Chitosan, a main derivative of Chitin which is a polysaccharide and waste product from the seafood processing industry, is an abundant natural resource. Chitosan has excellent property of adsorbing transition metal ions. Chitosan in partially converted crab shell waste was prepared by crab shell and employed in the experiment.;In this work we studied the characteristics of metal adsorption by chitosan in the crab shell. The experiments were performed to investigate the kinetics, isotherms, and the effect of pH, metal ion concentration, and the crab shell consumption.;The observed results indicated that the metal uptake process was successful based on the ion exchange chelation mechanism.;Advantages of Partially Converted Crab Shell Waste (called crab shell for brevity) include availability, low cost, and high biocompatibility.
