The relationship of health locus of control and participation in health-promoting behaviors among older hypertensive persons.

descriptive correlational study examined the relationship between health locus of control and participation in health-promoting behaviors in a sample of 74 hypertensive clients from a West Texas Veterans Affairs (VA) primary care clinic utilizing a one-time survey approach. One research question was identified: Among older hypertensive persons is there a relationship between health locus of control and participation in health- promoting behaviors?;Internal/external health locus of control was assessed using the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale (Form A and C). Health behavior was assessed using the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II. The study was based on the theoretical framework of Pender's Health Promotion Model.
