摘要

The number of applicants to national universities in Japan has been increasing, and competition has remained high for the last five years. The Preliminary Standard College English Entrance Examination is the first examination taken by students who seek to enroll at public universities. The average score of English is the lower than other subjects of Japanese language, social studies, mathematics, science. This is due to little attention to the importance of an organized plan of instruction for English grammar and vocabulary for the examination. Therefore, I believe that the systematic grammatical and vocabulary information which I present here is needed.;My comprehensive textbook consists of two parts: Grammar and Vocabulary. The grammar part consists of Verb Forms and More Complex Structures, and is designed to help Japanese L2 learners of English in high school understand the structural system of rules underlying the grammar of English, as well as the semantic differences among many kinds of structures. Verb Forms includes 12 Tenses, Modal Verbs, the Passive, Plain Conditionals & Subjunctive Mood, and Verbals. More Complex Structure includes Relatives, Comparison, and Other Units. The Vocabulary Part includes a list of important words and phrasal expressions that students should memorize, which are relevant to students' concerns.;The textbook, portion of this study, is designed to assist Japanese L2 learners of English in high school in gaining higher scores in "Grammar and Vocabulary" of the Preliminary Standard College English Entrance Examination.
