This is a crucial time when the dean of students plays multiple roles as an administrator, student advocate, and disciplinarian. This study involved the perceptions of stakeholders on school climate as they relate to ad-hoc student disciplinary decisions at three Islamic high schools in Illinois. To address the problem of the study and attempt to answer the research questions, this study used a qualitative design. Data collection included a questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions for administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Additional data were collected from one-on-one interviews with two key administrators from each of the three schools. This study indicated a consensus among participants that the dean of students is a key member in the disciplinary decision making process, and administrators do not become involved in the process unless asked by the dean, teacher, student, or parent. Each participant responded positively to the use of ad-hoc disciplinary decision-making. Ad-hoc student disciplinary decision-making is effective in establishing a positive school climate. This study recommends school leaders consider this model because its techniques allow students to learn from their mistakes and are given second chances.
