Business ethics among Mexican middle managers: A comparison between the national and international management influence in the moral development of Mexican middle managers at Mexican borderlands.

The forces of "globalization", the economic engine that is transforming the world, have placed different pressures on organizations, individuals and communities concerning ethical business practices. Although there is evidence of an increasing interest in implementing a structured ethical climate in organizations, the execution of this ethical climate depends exclusively on individuals in their day-to-day, executive level, corporate operations.;This research study used the Defining Issues Test to examine the influence or relationship of an organization's ethical culture on the moral development of Mexican middle managers working for domestic or foreign organizations in the maquiladora city of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.;Findings indicate the moral development of Mexican middle managers is not influenced by the ethical norms, leadership, policies, or values of the organization. The existence of an organizational ethical climate or the respondent's perceptions of ethical policies, norms and values are unexpectedly low in both domestic and foreign organizations.
