The future of transatlantic antitrust relationship: When Brussels and Washington see eye to eye on how to deal with similar competition issues (European Union).

My objective is to suggest that the new feature of competition law in the globalize economy of today is cooperation. As such, the EU-US bilateral agreement constitutes a relevant illustration. The two antitrust agencies have chosen a coordinative approach to deal with international competition issues rather than an extraterritorial one. Indeed, it is in Washington and Brussels' interests to walk hand in hand in resolving international competition issues insofar as they meet similar problems.; My intent is further to argue that three fundamental elements have to be present if an efficient EU-US cooperation wants to be achieve: (1) a voluntary participation, (2) shared visions and values and (3) an investigation coordination entity.
