An Online Shopping Cart is mainly an XML based application that maintains a list of the entire online consumer's shopping selection in such a way that they can be viewed and modified by the customer at any time. In isolation, the shopping cart is a relatively simple tool, but when combined with the inventory, an order processing system, and a database, it becomes very powerful indeed, and XML combined with the power of ASP and VB DLL (COM+) components ties these elements of the application together.; This application will harness the functionality of ASP and XML to transfer data from this online store's primary product and customer database to the waiting consumer requesting information at the client browser. XML is used as an intermediate data format in this type of application, where product data needs to be accessed quickly, avoids having to make multiple database calls over the network. Less Data calls means high performance, and this is useful when large databases are used.; An added module of Administrative functionality to the application is designed and implemented so that a SUPERADMIN activates or inactivates a registered Admin User to add/delete/update the products table and also check the pending status of the customers Orders and get their Email address to send product promotion Emails.
