In the game of golf, the importance of distance compared to accuracy is often argued. The results of this study, based on data from the Men's Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour, will demonstrate that accuracy off the tee has a greater statistically significant impact on scoring average than does distance off the tee. In addition, another variable, greens in regulation, is shown to have an even greater statistically significant impact on scoring average than either accuracy or distance off the tee. The correlation factor, for greens in regulation with respect to scoring average, was substantially greater than the correlation factor for accuracy off the tee or distance off the tee. To add reinforcement of the importance of accuracy over distance, accuracy off the tee was shown to have a greater statistically significant impact on greens in regulation than did distance off the tee.
