In this thesis a novel system architecture called Code-Frequency-Time division multiple access (CFTDMA) for broadband indoor wireless communication, capable of supporting 150 Mbps and above, is proposed. In the scheme the broadband signal is subdivided into several parallel narrowband signals then the narrowband signals are multiplexed using CFTDMA technique. The architecture combines the advantages of CDMA, FDMA, and TDMA methods enabling to keep system complexity relatively low. Data transmission performance requirements can be met without the aid of techniques such as equalization, coding or antenna diversity.; A computer simulation results of the CFTDMA system in a multipath environment show that a 160 Mbps system fulfils the performance of BER = 10-5 with the aid of a Rake receiver. However, this BER performance was achieved by reducing the number of parallel narrowband signals and increasing their data rate with respect to the originally planned. A 50 Mbps system meets the performance requirement without Rake.
