Novel-structure Dye-sensitized Solar Cells Based on Highly Ordered Titania Nanotube Arrays.

Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) has been treated as the third generation photovoltaic technology with the merits of low cost, environmental-friendly fabrication process and relatively high energy conversion efficiency. In order to speed up the commercialization of this promising technology and enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong in the field of renewable energy, our renewable energy research group (RERG) has been dedicated to the R&D of DSSCs by synthesizing new materials, optimizing device fabrication process and developing new structures of DSSCs. By using the commercial available raw materials, the DSSCs developed in our laboratory so far could achieve the conversion efficiency over 8.6%, which is in the front rank of the world.
