The inclusion of visual art in home education: A qualitative microethnographic case study.

摘要

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the increasing home education population is accomplishing art instruction. From the review of literature, triangulated research was developed that included document analysis, a questionnaire, and an information-rich case study. The researcher explored how much visual art was implemented, which artists/movements were presented, attitudes of the homeschool community towards art education, and how art educators can support the homeschool population.; After the study was conducted, the results were analyzed and a comparison made to established art education models. The results indicated that despite all good intentions to integrate the visual arts within this sample, a comprehensive art education program for most students was not presently a part of the curriculum. The study concluded with observed benefits of teaching art at home, options for home educators integrating the visual arts, and recommendations for art educators in assisting the home education community.
