Merging masculinity with virtue: An alternative approach for the postmodern Afro-American male.

This project addresses a prevailing self-destructive code of masculinity by the men within the writer's context of Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church in New Bern, North Carolina. The project will use a biblically based code of masculinity, steeped in morality and virtue, which the writer believes to be the best answer to the prevailing code of masculinity. This method will be used with the assistance of a focus group consisting of members from Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church. A quantitative methodology utilizing questionnaires, bible based teachings, and workshops were used in order to gauge attitudinal change concerning appropriate expressions of manhood.
