Doing God's work: An educator's graduate project in high school dance.

Four choreographic works were produced as part of the Master of Arts program in Dance. These dances, performed at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, represent two student and two candidate works. Space Out , 4:00 minutes in length, was choreographed by Alexa Erck and combined childlike movement with balletic phrases. Costume and lighting design enhanced the humor and mystery of the dance, which was performed on 15--16 January 2004. Fold, choreographed by Patrick DeLoach, was a 4:00-minute-long modern dance inspired by poker games. Jacob's Ladder, 7:00 minutes in length, utilized props and athletic phrases in conveying its abstract theme. Clothing Cues for Young Men, 5:30 minutes in length, was inspired by a filmstrip on grooming and incorporated modern movement to convey its lighthearted theme. The latter two dances were choreographed by the candidate and, with Fold, debuted on 30 April 2004. These works are described and analyzed.
