Primary care physicians' perceptions of the house call for chronic conditions as it relates to quality health care in the patient population 65 years of age and older.

Current North American policy initiatives under discussion are looking at the use of house calls in older adult populations as a methodology of improving patient care and curtailing spending. This research identifies the primary care physicians' perceptions of the house call as a provision of quality health services utilization for the patient population 65 years and older with chronic conditions. The physicians' perception of the house call survey was informed using Donabedian's (2003) Quality of Care Framework. The low survey response rate of 9.45% revealed that physicians' perceived that the target population was entitled to receive a house call, but did not believe it was economically feasible, though they agreed it was an effective process to create quality care.
