摘要

The quantitative non-experimental study leverages a combination of preexisting well-established surveys to understand how Herzberg Two Factor Theory, and the Theory of Reasoned Actions help explain a statistically strong relationship between a Career Development Planning (CDP), and the employees Intention to Leave (ITL) when controlling for the demographics of gender, age, level of education, ethnicity, time in current organization, time in IT field, and time in current position. The results are in finding that CDP was a significant predictor in lowering ITL with a 95% confidence level. It was also determined that none of the investigated demographic attributes had a statistically significant impact on the relationship, and therefore, were not good predictors of ITL. The implication that CDP may have a universally positive impact on an IT professionals ITL regardless of gender, age, level of education, ethnicity, time in current organization, time in IT field, and time in current position. The finding has immediate implications to the IT field in that practitioners can leverage this information to bolster support for high quality Career Development Planning as a defense against regrettable attrition.
