Small business firms account for 98% of all companies in the United States, generate nearly two-thirds of the country's jobs, and one-third of its gross national product. Research over the last decade has resulted in the development of the entrepreneurial orientation construct. The level at which a small business has an entrepreneurial orientation may be a factor in the successful implementation of an internationalization strategy. This study attempts to determine the nature and extent of the relationship between the level of internationalization as measured by export intensity found in small business manufacturing firms and their level of entrepreneurial orientation. This study examined a number of small business manufacturing firms located in the six states of New England.
