This research analyzed telecommuting from an organizational and employee perspective, examining the relationship between telecommuting, organizational commitment and support as influencing factors in effective performance, job satisfaction and productivity. The evolution of technology has allowed many employment opportunities for workers over the past two hundred years or so, but perhaps the greatest change is a company's ability to employ a portion of their workforce who seldom, or never, actually come to work. One of the major opportunities is an employee's ability to work from home via a computer network. Like many other changes taking place in today's workplace due to new technologies, telecommuting may cause a new work paradigm shift for many people and is likely to result in significant alteration for companies. Three hypotheses were tested and resulted in significant and important findings. Cross-sectional survey data on how telecommuting influenced employees was gathered from a human resource organization within a manufacturing company. Quantitative methodology is employed using correlation and Cronbach's alpha to analyzing the collected data.
