CliCrop is a simple 1-dimensional crop simulator for investigating both predicted future yields and possible solutions for future yield improvements. CliCrop is an immediate response to a study on Niger by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where they found two agricultural management techniques that have been very effective in increasing yield in spite of decreasing rainfall. CliCrop is also involved in a study on how waterlogging will affect crops that experience floods or over-irrigation due to future changes in climate. Many existing crop simulators were studied and some were used in the construction of CliCrop: CropWat, SWAT, and DSSAT. Once CliCrop was developed, a sensitivity analysis was performed, and the results are included in this paper. The model seems to behave correctly and efficiently. This paper includes a case study on Niger with the two agricultural techniques found by USAID using historic inputs to prove their effectiveness.
