摘要

Positioning in wireless networks with external geolocation cellular systems has used several methods to locate a mobile among different base stations. In this thesis, two methods are considered: the hyperbolic systems based on the time difference of arrival of a signal propagating from the mobile source to the base stations and hybrid systems based on these time differences and the angle of arrival of the signal. A study of the performance of these methods showed that the combination of these types of measurements can provide better accuracy than the hyperbolic systems alone in locating the mobile in two dimensions.; However, for some applications such as emergency call services, the need to know the altitude of the mobile has become necessary to identify for example on which floor of a building is the person in trouble. So locating the mobile in three dimensions is an important issue.; In this thesis, a three dimension location method based on scale factors is proposed. An adaptive technique is integrated in this system to adjust these factors in order to better locate the mobile. A performance study of this estimator proved that high location accuracy levels are achieved for any position of the source. The proposed scheme even gives better performance that the hyperbolic positioning method to locate the mobile in two dimensions.
