Health Insurance Product for Autism in Indonesia

摘要

In human,disorder is often used to explain any condition that causes dysfunction,distress,or social problems to the person afflicted.
　　Autism is a complex disorder of brain development which is characterized by difficulties in social interaction,communication skills,and repetitive behaviors.Based on data from the Statistical Research Agency in Indonesia,there are approximately140,000children under the age of17years who diagnosed with autism(estimates year2010-2014),and by2016the number of children with autism was reached238,000.Until now no specific cause has been found and there is no known cure for autism,but it does not mean that nothing can be done for children with autism.
　　Caring children with autism can cause a heavy economic burden on families especially for healthcare costs which average more than USD40,000per child per year.Furthermore,that some parents also resigned from their work to care their children with autism,and it continues until the children with autism grow up then cause another high cost to their self which is related to lack of employment.
　　In Indonesia there is no such insurance company provide insurance product for autism because in Indonesia autism still not considered as a disease,and this considered become one factor why parents with autism children choose not to carry out any therapy or we can say that they choose to surrender with this circumstance.Hence,this thesis will introduce new health insurance product for autism in Indonesia with affordable premiums which is suitable for their needs and also for their salary income.
