《认真的重要性》中人物对话态度资源的人际意义——从评价理论角度分析

摘要

评价理论是Martin等人对系统功能语言学中人际意义的扩展与延伸，主要包括态度，介入和级差三个子系统。其中，态度系统是评价理论的核心。评价理论所关注的是语篇语义层面，通过系统地研究语篇中的评价性语言，探讨口头或书面语篇中所蕴含的人际意义。随后，它被应用到各类体裁的文本分析中，包括新闻，历史，政治，文学等文本。这些研究都验证了评价理论在语篇人际意义方面的强大阐释力。在文学文本的应用中，研究者多关注于小说的分析，对于戏剧文本的分析却少有触及。戏剧文本主要由对话构成，对话中的评价资源是实现人物人际关系的主要方式。因此，对戏剧文本中对话的人际意义的分析值得进一步研究。
　　《认真的重要性》是英国著名作家奥斯卡·王尔德的代表作，表达了王尔德对维多利亚时代上层贵族的无情讽刺。本文试图从评价理论的态度子系统出发，探究王尔德戏剧《认真的重要性》文本中的人际意义，从语言学角度深化对戏剧文本的解读。本文选取了剧本中三对主要人物间具有代表性的对话选段为语料，通过定量分析和定性分析的方法，借助数据分析软件UAM Corpus Tool进行标记，统计比较不同态度资源的分布特征，以探究态度资源如何构建人际意义以及不同态度资源的使用所揭示的人物性格。
　　从数据分析结果可以看出:(1)三段语料中包含较多的态度资源，其中判断资源的数量最多，占到44.3％，其次为鉴赏资源和情感资源，并且这些态度资源中正面态度数量高于负面态度数量。这表明作品主要人物间倾向于表达对事物或他人的正面判断，并以此来构建彼此间的人际关系。(2)通过对主要人物三段对话中态度资源使用数量及资源分布情况的对比，可以发现Jack和Algernon，Lady Bracknell和Jack，Gwendolen和Cecily三对人物之间的权势关系，结果显示Algernon,Lady Bracknell和Gwendolen分别在三段对话中处于主导地位，掌控话语权，而Jack和Cecily则处于从属地位。(3)通过主要人物对具体态度资源的使用的分析，探究5个人物的性格特征，揭示作者对维多利亚时代英国上流社会的虚伪、势利以及游戏人生的价值观的讽刺。
　　本研究通过将评价理论应用于戏剧剧本分析，进一步拓展了评价理论的应用领域，同时，也为文学教学中基于评价资源的文本分析提供了借鉴。
