从功能对等视角看《毛泽东选集》中习语的翻译

摘要

习语是语言的重要组成部分，虽然短小，但却蕴含着丰富的文化内涵。随着经济社会的快速发展，国与国之间的交往日益加强。而交往中，习语发挥着重要作用。因此，对习语的理解成为影响跨文化交际的重要因素。能否正确理解习语内涵直接影响不同国家人们之间的交流。所以，对习语的准确理解显得尤为必要。由于习语文化内涵深刻而又丰富，成功地翻译习语地确是一项具有挑战性的任务。　　 《毛泽东选集》是体现毛泽东思想的重要文集，其中的许多文章都使用了大量的习语。这些习语浓缩了中国文化，言简意赅地传达了毛泽东思想。如何忠实、精确地将这些习语译成英语，乃是《毛泽东选集》英译过程中的一大难题。　　 著名翻译家尤金·奈达的功能对等理论对习语翻译具有重要的指导作用。该理论不是拘泥于译文和原文的字面意义和形式上的对等，而是强调读者的反应，使译文读者和原文读者对作品的反应对等。本文从奈达的功能对等视角深入剖析了英文本《毛泽东选集》中的习语英译，指出了英语读者得以正确理解习语的原因，并分析了习语翻译实现功能对等的措施以及习语英译过程中所采取的翻译方法。本文得出以下结论:译者在翻译《毛泽东选集》中的习语过程中采取了各种方法，如直译、意译、直译加意译、直译加注、增词等，将习语的意思准确、忠实地翻译出来，使得译文能够很好地为英语读者所理解和接受，从而实现了较好的功能对等。功能对等理论对其它经典名著中习语翻译亦具有较好的指导意义。
