A Comparative Study of Chinese and English Metaphorical Representation of Body Parts

摘要

隐喻无处不在，中外对于隐喻的研究也一直未停止过。纵观隐喻研究史，从亚里士多德到Lakoff，有不少中外学者和语言学家试图对隐喻现象做出种种阐释。20世纪80年代以来，语言学家Lakoff和Johnson出版了《我们赖以生存的隐喻》，提出了概念隐喻理论，在欧美，特别是在美国掀起了一股隐喻研究的热潮。Lakoff和Johnson认为隐喻不仅仅是一种修辞方法，而且是人们普遍使用的一种认知手段和思维方式。 文章共分为五部分 第一部分:为介绍。 第二部分:阐明本文的理论基础，并对隐喻进行定义和介绍Lakoff提出的关于隐喻的分类： 第三部分:为文献综述，简要回顾了主要的传统隐喻理论和当代认知隐喻理论。 第四部分:以收集的大量真实语料通过分析详细讨论了中英文中有关身体部位隐喻的相似性和差异性，然后从文化和认知等方面探讨了导致中英文隐喻相似性和差异性的可能原因。 第五部分:是该研究的实际应用。该研究对于外语教学，翻译和外事都有一定的现实意义。 本文通过对英汉隐喻句的研究，证实了英汉语中都存在着大量关于身体部位的隐喻，人类相同的身体构造和感知器官决定着英汉两种语言在人体隐喻化的认知功能和规律方面具有同大于异的特点。英汉隐喻句在表现形式上具有一定的共性。同时，本文也发现英语和汉语毕竟分属两个截然不同的语系，是两个完全不同的民族所使用的语言，也就必然带有各自的社会、文化以及心理等方面的特点，英汉两种语言在人体隐喻化认知方面不是完全对应的，而是存在着许多差异。
